Chapter
6

I never went out into the ER waiting room that day. It seemed too hard to look all those people in the eye that day. But it didn’t matter to them. They loved us anyway. They would prove that over and over and over again for the rest of my life.

As we returned to the ER room where Alex was sleeping, they informed us that Niki would be taken away to the jail and charged with negligent homicide. This was extremely hard to hear. Niki was and is my sister in Christ. Jackson loved Niki so much, and he would have been devastated to know that Niki was going to be in jail that night. What Niki had accidently done caused Jackson death and Alex to have a skull fracture. Our lives would never ever be the same, but it was an accident. She was grieving, and she shouldn’t have had to go to jail. We all discussed that Waylon should go and care for Niki at the jail. Martha would stay with us, and countless numbers of people would begin praying for all of us.

Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
